Športno kulturno društvo Huje (ŠKD Huje) is a voluntary, non-profit association active in culture, sport and community life. We place special emphasis on preserving local cultural identity, customs and the transfer of knowledge between generations.

Hujanske šjme
Traditional carnival characters, costumes and the house-to-house collection round – living heritage of Huje.
Shod Huje
A traditional village gathering held in early August, connected with the feast of St Lawrence.
Accordion meetings
Performers of different ages and from different places, with a strong role for children and young people.
Spring and village pond
Volunteer care for elements of Huje's traditional cultural landscape.

Living heritage
Hujanske šjme and the carnival collection round
According to local tradition, preparations begin after Christmas. The central event is the house-to-house collection round on Carnival Saturday. The group consists of distinctive characters with defined roles, costumes and symbolism, and today people of different generations take part.
